Charles R. Bushika, 68

BENNINGTON, Vt. — Charles R. Bushika, 68, of Union Street died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at home. Born in Stamford on July 28, 1940, son of Joseph and Gladys Rennell Bushika, he was the eighth of 10 children. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Drury High School in North Adams, Mass., in 1958. Mr. Bushika was employed for nearly 20 years at Steinerfilm Inc. in Williamstown, Mass., until his retirement in 2005. A lover of the outdoors and an avid hunter for many years, he also enjoyed watching sports, painting, travel, cooking, and writing, though he most loved spending time with family and close friends. He leaves two daughters, Monique Bushika and Michelle Bushika and their husbands; two sisters, Helen Wardwell of Troy, N.Y., and Elizabeth Smiley of Ohio; four brothers, Joseph Bushika Jr., Walter Bushika, Thomas Bushika and James Bushika, all of Stamford; two sons from his first marriage; his former wife, June, with whom he remained close; three grandsons, Jesse, Gabriel and Caleb, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Arthur, George and Frank Bushika. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Bushika will be Thursday, April 9, at 11 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Resource Defense Council in care of the funeral home.
