ATHOL, Mass. – Brady Vallieres scored twice, including the game-winner, as the McCann Tech boys soccer team overcame a 2-0 deficit to earn a 3-2 win at Athol in the semi-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class C tournament on Thursday night.

Vallieres scored the Hornets’ first goal with what coach Stephen McAllister described as an “unbelievable header” off Zach Gelnias’ corner kick.

A few minutes later, Gelinas sent a cross into the 6 for Rocco Cellana, who finished to tie the match at half-time.

“[Fifteen minutes into] the second half, another cross from Zach Gelinas to Brady Vallieres with a one touch to go up by one,” McAlister said. “At that point, we called a time out with 20 minutes left and changed things to our defense and held on for the win.”

Jesse Brazee made 10 saves to earn the win in goal.

The victory sets up an all-Berkshire County Western Mass final on Friday evening when the Hornets (7-7-2) travel to Mount Greylock for a 5:20 kickoff.
