PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Sam Higuera and Carter Matthews each scored a pair of goals Wednesday to lead the Pittsfield boys soccer team to a 7-0 win over Hoosac Valley at Kirvin Park.

Sumowo Harris, Luke Peplowski and Emmanuel Amenlemah each scored a goal, and Mehki Romero had a pair of assists for the Generals (5-5-2).

“After a tough game vs. Ludlow it was good to get back in  the win column,” Pittsfield coach Andrew Antil said. “Hoosac has a young team and they showed a lot of character hustling to the ball for 80 full minutes despite the scoreline. Our team played with poise, executed the basics well, and we got a couple new players on the scoreboard.”

Pittsfield hosts Taconic on Saturday morning.

Hoosac Valley (2-6-1) hosts Drury on Thursday.
