The McCann Tech girls soccer team took the Tri-County title for the fourth year in a row Monday afternoon in their 8-0 win over Commerce on Senior Day.

“It was a great senior game,” Coach Mike Dowling said. “Everybody played and we had a lot of fun.”

Allexia Andrews, one of McCann’s three senior, led the team in scoring with three goals, one which opened the scoring in the first half.

The Hornets controlled the tempo throughout the game, moving the ball around the field and pushing it up to the front line, giving them a lot of scoring opportunities. They were able to capitalize on eight of those chances.

McCann went into the second half up 2-0, after Jordan Budaj got a breakaway with 4 minutes, 24 seconds remaining in the first half. She carried the ball right into the net giving the Hornets their second goal of the game.

The second half brought goals from four different players for McCann and two more goals from Andrews; who had the honorary hat trick for the game.

Cheyanne Alcombright, Monique Martel, Alexis Foley, and Brianna Tassone netted four of McCann’s six goals in the second half.

McCann finished the regular season this afternoon with an overall record of (15-3) and a league record of (9-1); setting them up for a pretty good seed in the State Vocational Tournament.

“As of right now I think we’re a number two seed in the State Voc.,” Coach Dowling said. “That’s the tournament we’re going after first.”

The seedings for the State Vocational Tournament will be released tomorrow. If McCann is in fact the No. 2 seed, it will be rewarded with a home game.
