Western Mass Volleyball Seedings Out

The Lee Wildcats pulled down the No. 3 seed in the Western Massachusetts Division 3 volleyball tournament.

 

The seeding meeting for the regional tourneys was held on Tuesday morning, and the Wildcats (18-1) were penciled in to face sixth-seeded Ware (15-3) in the quarterfinals on Monday, Nov. 3, at 6:30 p.m. in Lee.

 

Four Berkshire County teams qualified in the 10-team team field in D3, where first-round action gets under way on Thursday evening.

 

No. 8 Wahconah (12-6) and No. 10 Lenox (9-9) each play on Thursday.

 

Wahconah hosts No. 9 Easthampton (8-7) on Thursday at 6:30 3:45 in Dalton. Lenox goes on the road to face No. 7 Mahar (11-8) at 6:30.

 

The fourth team in the field, No. 5 Mount Greylock (12-6) gets a first-round bye but not a home game. The Mounties on Monday head to No. 4 Turners Falls (14-6). No. 2 seed Athol (16-3) gets the Lenox-Mahar winner in the quarters.

 

Division 3’s top seed is Frontier (18-1). It awaits the winner of Wahconah-Easthampton.

 

In Division 2, Pittsfield (12-7) is the lone Berkshire County representative. The Generals on Thursday host No. 9 East Longmeadow (10-10) for the right to travel on Monday to face top seed Minnechaug (15-3).
