CHICOPEE, Mass. -- The Drury bowling team on Saturday won its fourth straight state championship.

The Blue Devils topped Lee in the championship match, earning a measure of revenge for the Wildcats' victory in the Berkshire County championship the week before.

For senior Kayla Field, it was her fourth state title.

Other team members included sophomore Zach Yeaton, sophomore Ali Brassard, freshman Nick Johnson and eighth-graders Austin Davine and Kalley Vanuni.

Both Yeaton and Johnson bowled on state championship teams as eighth-graders.

Yeaton was named the MVP of the state tournament for the second straight year.

He led the way in Drury's first two match play games on Saturday with scores of 256 and 245.

Vanuni then stepped up as the team entered three straight Baker format matches. She rolled three strikes in four frames during the Baker games, where teams alternate players frame-by-frame.

Drury entered the semi-finals seeded second behind Lee. The Blue Devils two straight games from county rival St. Joe -- the first by just one pin -- to earn a spot against the Wildcats in the state final.

Lee won the first game of the best-of-three series, but then Drury came back with two straight wins that came down to the last frame.

In both wins, No. 1 bowlers Yeaton and Lee's J.T. Sorrentino wereso close that if both struck out, the Wildcats would win by a pin.

But Yeaton was able to secure the victory, which ended with Vanuni subbing in to roll the final ball of the season's final match.
