McCann Boys Cross Country Wins State Voc Meet

GRANBY, Mass. -- Lukas Yelle led the McCann Tech boys cross country team to a State Vocational Tournament Championship on Monday afternoon.
 
Yelle finished second with a time of 19 minutes, 10 seconds, over the 5000 meter course, behind Upper Cape Cod RVT's Doug Clearly (18:55).
 
The Hornets finished with 57 points, well ahead of second-place Franklin Tech with 72.
 
Jerry McCarthy (20:02) and Cameron Anderson (20:22) backed up Yelle with finishes in eighth and 10th place, respectively.
 
James Dix (14th) and William Galipeau (23rd) rounded out the scoring for the Hornets.
 
McCann's girls finished sixth with senior Zoe Loughman leading the way. Loughman finished in 22:16. Nashoba Valley's Erin Doherty was the state champion in 21:48.
 
Emma Andrews, Laura Netti, Tessa Christman and Rosalyn Lincoln also scored for McCann.
 
Next up for the Hornets: the Western Massachusetts regional championships at the Northfield Recreation Center on Saturday.
