Dagny Albano
Mount Greylock

The Mounties sophomore had 33 assists and just three ball-handling errors in a dramatic, five-set victory at Turners Falls to open Mount Greylock's run in the Western Massachusetts Division 3 tournament.

Mount Greylock finished the regular season with a 12-6 record and pulled the No. 5 seed in the regional, which gave the Mounties a bye into the Western Mass quarter-finals. They will look to pull off an upset of top-seeded Frontier on Wednesday night.

Chris Gajda
McCann Tech

It has been a big fall for McCann Tech sports: an undefeated football season, State Vocational titles in boys soccer and cross country and a girls soccer team that is still alive in the Western Massachusetts quarter-finals.

And no one has been bigger for the Hornets than their 6-foot-2 boys soccer goalkeeper. Chris Gajda posted a shutout through 100 minutes to get McCann to a penalty kick shootout in the State Voc title game at Westfield Voc. Four days later, he allowed just one goal in a Western Mass tournament loss to the same team, a heavily-favored Tigers squad that went undefeated in the regular season.

iBerkshires Sports and Capital Region Honda Dealers, including Bedard Honda in Cheshire, will be spotlighting two Berkshire County high school athletes each week, a boy and a girl, who best excelled in their sport or boosted their teams' efforts.
