McCann Tech Harriers Run at PVIAC Championships

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- McCann Tech sophomore Hope Blake finished 141st out of 205 runners competing in the Pioneer Valley Interscholastic Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday at Stanley Park.
 
Blake ran a time of 24 minutes, 40 seconds on the 5-kilometer course. The winner was Amherst sophomore Sophia Jacobs-Townsley, who finished in 18:19.
 
Blake's McCann teammates Dakota Hurley, a sophomore, and Darcy Scalise, a freshman, also competed in the event, held at the site of next Sunday's Western Mass cross country championships.
 
In the boys PVIAC Championships, McCann freshmen Seth Ives and Jadon Hartley placed 187th and 189th, respectively, in a field of 227 runners.
 
Ives clocked a time of 21:16 to lead the Hornets, who who also ran sophomore John Daub.
 
Holyoke senior Cameron Correia won the boys race in 15:45.
