Berkshire County Nordic League Continues at Mohawk Trail
BUCKLAND, Mass. -- Four Wahconah boys finished in the top 25 on Saturday at Mohawk Trail Regional High School to help their team improve its showing in the weekly Berkshire County Nordic League competition.
Wahconah once again finished fifth, but its 71 points were a marked improvement from the 85 it earned on its home course Jan. 7 --putting Wahconah just four points behind Lenox for fourth place. A week ago, there was a 31-point spread between the teams.
Once again, Mount Greylock finished first with 22 points, this time placing skiers in fourth through eighth places. But Northfield Mount Hermon, behind a second straight win by Kent Yoshikawa, narrowed the gap between first and second, finishing with 37 points.
Wahconah’s boys again were led by Sam Pyser, who finished in 12th place with a time of 13 minutes, 28 seconds. Hayden Cantoni was 17th, and Dalton Dean and Zack McCain were 19th and 23rd, respectively, for Wahconah.
Mount Greylock’s top finisher again was Ric Donati in 12:29. He was followed by teammates Jakin Miller, Jacob Adams, Evan Arthur and Cameron Castonguay.
On the girls side, Mount Greylock won with 16 points, well ahead of second-place Mohawk (39).
Mounties Brandi Gill (14:12) and Margo Smith (14:13) finished 1-2 with teammates Niku Darafshi (14:23) and Anna Butcher (15:38) finishing fourth and ninth, respectively, to round out the scoring.
Lenox’s girls finished third out of nine teams competing with 47 points. The Millionaires were led by Alice Huth (14:34) in fifth place and Emma Jourdain (15:23) in eighth.
