Pelletier Fifth at All-State Wrestling Meet

READING, Mass. -- Mount Greylock Regional School senior Devin Pelletier finished fifth in the commonwealth at 170 pounds on Saturday at the All-State Wrestling Championships.
 
Pelletier went 3-2 at the two-day event, which ended in a forfeit victory over Braintree's Anders Klass in the fifth-place match.
 
Pelletier started the day in the semi-finals of the championship draw, but his quest for a state title ended when Catholic Memorial's Josh Bechen pinned him at the 1 minute, 57 second mark of their semi-final.
 
In Pelletier's first outing in the consolation bracket, he was edged by Greater Lowell's Zack Hamilton, 3-2, sending him to the fifth-place final.
 
Pelletier and teammate Jude Rorke, who was eliminated on Friday, scored enough points for Mount Greylock to finish tied for 45th place out of 108 schools who sent wrestlers to the competition.
 
Minnechaug wont he team title with 84.5 points, bettering Bellerica, which placed second with 79 points. 'Chaug had two individual champions, the most by any school: Benton Whitley at 220 and Ryan Monteiro at 152. A third Minnechaug wrestler, Lucas Gobel, lost, 5-4, in the title bout at 160.
