Seid, Culver Lead Mount Greylock Boys at Burnt Hills Invitational

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Jesse Seid and Sam Culver finished second and third, respectively, Saturday to lead the Mount Greylock boys cross country team to victory in the Division 1 race at the Burnt Hills Invitational at Saratoga Spa State Park.
 
Thirty teams ran in the race. The Mounties ended with 59 points to beat out Maple Hill, N.Y., which compiled 71.
 
Seid covered the 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) course in 16 minutes, 15 seconds, just ahead of his teammate Culver (16:23).
 
Josh Cheung (12th), Owen Brandriss (16th) and Jacob Fink (28th) rounded out the scoring for the Mounties.
 
Mount Greylock entered squads in four divisions at the event.
 
The Mount Greylock modified or middle school squad placed third out of 25 teams in a 1.7-miler.
 
Mountie Eamon Hetherington was the individual runner-up in a time of 11:07, eight seconds off the pace set by Gabe Lape of Scotia-Glenville. Chase Doyle, Quin Whaley, Seamus Barnes and Noah Shin scored for Mount Greylock.
 
The Mounties’ freshman boys squad placed fifth out of 10 teams in their 1.7-mile race.
 
Corban Miller led the way with a time of 11:32, good for 17th place out of 88 runners. Charlie McWeeny, Gabe Gerry, Finn Ellingwood and Michael Faulkner also scored.
