STURBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Drury baseball team made the most of its trip to Central Massachusetts on Tuesday with a pair of wins over Monson and Tantasqua at the Tantasqua Tournament.

"Overall a great day for Drury baseball," coach Patrick Boulger said. "Fundametally and mentally we improved in every aspect today.

"Monson and Tantasqua presented good offensive threats and our pitching and defense rose to the occasion today. We had some tough situations throughout the day, however our guys stayed focused and came out with two quality wins today."

In Game One, Skyler Robinson got the win, and Kody Crosier picked up the save ina  5-2 win over Monson.

Crosier also had an RBI triple in the sixth to help Drury open up a three-run lead.

Shayne Garvey drove in a couple of runs, including with a double in that sixth inning rally.

In Game 2, Drury outlasted host Tantasqua for a 13-11 win.

Kirby Bryce drove in two runs and scored a couple, and Thane Preite drove in two and stole two bases. Crosier went 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and saved the game on the mound with one inning of relief.

"Pitching was a strength today that showed our depth and ability to pick each other up in some tough situations," Boulger said. "Hitting approach was by far the best I have seen this year throughout the lineup. We used all the fields effectively and did what we had to do with runners in scoring position, especially in the Tantasqua game."

Drury took an 8-0 lead after two innings against Tantasqua. It was 13-5 midway through the fifth before the hosts closed within two.

"It was a day that I believe the program took a very big positive step forward," Boulger said. "However we have a continued tough week ahead and we have to go back to work for two more tough games this week."

Drury travels to Lenox on Thursday and Granby on Saturday.
