CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Matt Koperniak went 2-for-3 with a triple and three stolen bases Monday to lead the Hoosac Valley baseball team to a 5-0 win over Drury.

Noah Matrigali scattered four hits and struck out four for a complete game victory as the Hurricanes (11-6) won for the 10th time in 11 games and completed a season sweep of their rivals to the north.

Koperniak started doing damage in the first inning when he reached on a two-base error and stole third, forcing an errant throw that allowed him to score.

It stayed 1-0 until the third, when Jack Sniezek led off with a double to right-center and scored on Koperniak’s single up the middle. Koperniak stole third again before scoring on Matrigali’s infield single to make it 3-0.

The Hurricanes picked up some insurance in the bottom of the sixth. Again, the bottom of the order got things started.

John Krol was hit by a pitch with one out, and J.P. Levsque drew a walk to put men on first and second. After Sniezek reached on a fielder’s choice, Koperniak tripled to left to drive in both men and cap the scoring.

Kody Crosier struck out three and allowed four earned runs for Drury (6-10), which hosts Monument Mountain on Wednesday.
