DALTON, Mass. – Chase Earle went 3-for-4 with a home run, and Hopkins Academy built a 7-0 lead en route to an 8-6 win over Wahconah on Wednesday.

Hopkins led, 8-5, going to the bottom of the seventh.

James Rabuse reached on a one out double, and Ryan Marauszwski brought him home with a two-out single to get Wahconah within two.

But Earle, who threw two innings in relief, got the next out on a swinging strike to finish the game.

Rabuse led Wahconah with a 3-for-4 day at the plate.

He also started on the mound and went four innings, striking out eight and allowing five runs but just three earned runs. Evan Alfonso went the rest of the way, giving up one earned run in three innings of work.

Wahconah (8-3) saw a seven-game winning streak snapped by Hopkins, currently ranked sixth in the state in the latest MIAA Division 5 in-season power rankings.

Wahconah will look to get back in the win column on Saturday at Hampshire Regional.
