DALTON, Mass, – Ethan Orsini drove in the winning run to complete a four-run rally in the bottom of the seventh as the Wahconah baseball team defeated Ludlow, 11-10, on Wednesday afternoon.

Drew Wendling got the winning rally started with a leadoff single. Patrick McLaughlin then doubled to left field to put two runners in scoring position.

Holden Kotelnicki’s triple to center got Wahconah within one run of the Lions at 10-9.

After Kotelnicki scored on a passed ball to tie it, Ben West and Brayden Melle each worked a walk to put the winning runner – now Lucas Wildrick as a pinch-runner – on second.

Owen Alfonso singled to the left side to load the bases for Orsini, who delivered his second hit of the day to win the game.

Owen Salvatore led Wahconah’s offense on the day, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs. Drew Wendling also homered in a 2-for-4 day at the plate.

Matt Kinser went 2-for-3.

West and Patrick McLaughlin split time on the mound for Wahconah. West allowed seven runs, but just two earned runs, in 3-⅔ innings of work. McLaughlin earned the win in relief, striking out three, walking one and allowing no earned runs.
