WESTFIELD, Mass. – Ben Jacob doubled in the go-ahead run in the top of the fifth, and Cam Hillard allowed just two hits in pitching the Pittsfield baseball team to a 2-1 win over Westfield on Monday.

Charlie Heimann started the winning rally with a leadoff single. He then went to third on a single by Walker Abdallah.

Jacob hit a 1-2 pitch deep to center field for a double that scored Heimann to make it 2-1.

That was all the support Hillard needed on a day when he struck out eight, walked four and gave up just the one run in the bottom of the third to get the complete-game win in his first varsity appearance.

Pittsfield scored first in the top of the third, when Tommy Mullin doubled to left to score Abdallah, who reached on a one-out single.

Mullin finished the day 3-for-3 at the plate in an eight-hit Pittsfield attack.

The Generals (9-6) go for their 10th win on Tuesday at Clapp Park against Taconic.
