Sime Pitches Pittsfield Past Westfield

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Cam Sime struck out nine and allowed one earned run in six innings of work Thursday as the Pittsfield baseball team beat Westfield, 8-3, in the Generals’ home opener.
 
Jake Duquette went 4-for-4 with an RBI, and Connor Lavinio finished 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBIs in a 17-hit Pittsfield attack.
 
The Generals scored four times in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead.
 
Walker Abdallah drove in Will Kinne to make it 2-0. Nick Brindle then followed with a sacrifice fly. Tommy Mullin doubled in a run with two out, and Duquette capped the rally with an RBI single.
 
Pittsfield (2-2) goes to East Longmeadow on Tuesday.
