NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The McCann Tech boys lacrosse team fell just a little short of sending its seniors off in style on Tuesday, suffering a hard-fought, 5-4 loss at the hands of Monson on Senior Day.

"Brian Boudreau, our senior defenseman, scored a goal," McCann Tech coach Paul Lange said. "Everyone was really excited for Brian. Dakota [Bolte] and Brian have been trying to score a goal for a while. Brian was first on the board.

"It was Senior Day, and everyone was pumped up to see him score."

Senior longstick Dakota Bolte and senior keeper Josh Pettit also had strong days in helping Boudreau hold Monson to just the five goals.

Pettit made 10 saves in the loss.

Monson keeper Max Jordan was forced to make five saves in the third and five in the fourth as McCann Tech tried to rally from a 5-3 deficit.

Justin Meczywor scored two goals, and Evan Knapp had one for the Hornets, who got an assist apiece from Darius Tovani and David Rancourt each had an assist.

McCann Tech (4-12) goes to Lee on Thursday.
