WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Reilly Parker on Wednesday delivered six goals, and the Mount Greylock boys lacrosse team delivered what Pittsfield’s boys lacrosse coach hopes will be a wakeup call for the Generals.

“They're a really good team,” PHS coach Scott Aitken said after Mount Greylock’s 19-4 win on John T. Allen Field. “They're just kind of a step ahead of us in pretty much everything. Hopefully that opened some eyes for our guys. We're going to get back to work tomorrow. We've got games Friday and Saturday.

“Hopefully, they took away something from this as far as effort and hustle and paying attention.”

Aitken did see bright spots in the performance of a short-handed Pittsfield team that slipped to 1-2 on the season.

“When we possessed the ball on offense, we did alright,” he said. “I was pretty happy with that. Defensively, we were just a little flat-footed, and you just can't do that against Greylock. They're way too good. They'll find those open guys.”

Aitken said that due to injury and vacation, Pittsfield had several players playing out of position on Wednesday. That made things even tougher against a perennial power like Mount Greylock. But it also was a learning experience for the visitors.

“They were kind of thrown to the wolves,” Aitken said. “ It was a quick learning curve for them.

But what I like is they were asking questions and trying to figure it out. It wasn't all bad. It wasn' great, but it wasn't all bad. We'll try to put this one in the rear-view mirror and go on from there.”

Nikolai Pixley stopped 10 shots, and Ryan Jacoby scored a pair of goals for Pittsfield.

For Mount Greylock, Patrick Storie scored four goals and set up two more. Sean McCormack recorded three goals and three assists, and Michael Wellspeak and Kyle Bozanski each scored twice.

Cal Filson recorded six saves as the Mounties improved to 5-0 heading into Saturday morning’s game at Monument Mountain.

Pittsfield travels to face McCann Tech on Friday.
