SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Claire Naef scored five goals Saturday to lead the Wahconah girls lacrosse team to a 12-11 win over South Hadley.

Ava Massaro scored four times, and Eva Eberwein had a hat trick.

"The girls did a very nice job of managing the game and taking care of the ball at the end of the game," Wahconah coach Kathy Budaj said. "We are growing each game and the improvement from everyone is amazing. We are a very new team and continuing to learn the game."

Phaylyn Renderer stopped six shots to earn the win in goal.

"Our defense is doing a great job, and Phalyn Renderer is doing a wonderful job in goal," Budaj said. "The offense is starting to work together to create opportunities."

Wahconah (2-1) goes to Granby on Monday.
