WESTFIELD, Mass. – Sarah Polumbo scored six times, and the Mount Greylock girls lacrosse team Monday outscored Westfield, 7-3, in the second half to earn a 13-8 win over the Bombers.

Ainsley Abel scored four goals and set up two more, and Gianna Pesce and Addison Abel finished with three points apiece.

Christy Rech stopped four shots to earn the win in goal.

“The Abel and Polumbo ‘1-2 punch’ proved to be the difference today along with excellent play between the 30’s from the ‘circle girls:’ Stella Waynick, Addison Abel, Meghan Lagerwall and Tanley Drake,” Mount Greylock coach Jeff Stripp said. “Addison Abel & Gianna Pesce rounded out the scoring with impressive games today against the stout and physical backer zone defense that Westfield runs.”

Stripp also credited his team’s defense for successfully clearing the ball to help Mount Greylock control time of possession.

The Mounties (11-2) go to Northampton on Wednesday.
