Belcher, Wahconah Walks Off with Win over Bombers

DALTON, Mass. -- Emma Belcher tripled to left and scored on an error in the bottom of the seventh to give the Wahconah softball team a 3-2 win over Westfield on Monday.
 
"A great game today," Wahconah coach Dustin Belcher said. "Tournament game atmosphere. Both teams had solid defense, good pitching and timely hitting."
 
Taylar Hickey singled and ended up scoring on Elena Iovieno's sacrifice in the fourth for Wahconah's first run.
 
In the fifth, Dani Barry hit a two out single and came home on Olivia Iovieno's RBI single to tie the game, 2-2.
 
Avery Vale-Cruz struck out 14 and scattered five hits to earn the win in the circle for Wahconah.
 
Wahconah (13-1) goes to Greenfield on Tuesday.
