GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Elee Hull went 4-for-4 with a double Wednesday to lead the Monument Mountain softball team to a 14-1 win over Gateway in five innings.

Takaiya Brown was 2-for-3 with a double, and Jade Abderhalden doubled for the Spartans.

The win avenged a 7-6 loss in Huntington earlier this month.

“The girls knew what they needed to do, and they got it done today,” Monument Mountain coach Jamie Downer said. “We’ve been working a lot on responding in tough situations and staying mentally tough, so this was a big win for us, after struggling against Gateway on the road.

“Our aggressive base running definitely helped us out today. And Gateway put the ball in play, but our defense was solid.”

Meg Dupont struck out two hitters while allowing no walks to earn the win in the circle.

Monument Mountain (4-2) goes to St. Mary’s of Westfield on Thursday.
