Hakes' Hot Start Propels Hurricanes

CHESHIRE, Mass. – Joey McGovern scored 22 points Wednesday to lead the Hoosac Valley boys basketball team to a 76-50 win over South Hadley.
 
McGovern had a strong all-around game for the Hurricanes with seven rebounds and five steals.
 
Five different ‘Canes finished in double figures. Frank Field scored 16 points. Qwanell Bradley and Trevor Moynihan added 13 and 12, respectively.
 
Will Hakes hit three 3-pointers and scored all 11 of his points in the first quarter, when Hoosac Valley built a 19-7 lead.
 
The Hurricanes (11-2) go to Mount Greylock on Friday.
