McGovern, Hurricanes Overcome Slow Start at Mount Greylock

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Joey McGovern scored 29 points Friday to lead the Hoosac Valley boys basketball team to a 95-44 win over Mount Greylock.
 
McGovern dropped in four of his eight 3-pointers and scored 26 points in the second quarter, when the Hurricanes outscored the Mounties, 30-13, to take a 40-28 lead into the locker room.
 
Frank Field scored 20, and Adan Wicks added 16 for Hoosac Valley, which got nine on three 3s from Will Hakes.
 
Mount Greylock was led by Noah Kane-Smalls with 23 points and Judge Martin with eight.
 
The Mounties (6-8) hosts Athol on Tuesday.
