Morrison Leads Wahconah Past Taconic
PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Wahconah boys basketball team defeated Taconic Friday evening, 56-49, at Taconic High School.
Wahconah got an early lead in the first half, running the court and beating them down low. The visitors went into half-time ahead 24-16.
"We needed to play with more energy, more focus, and more intensity," Taconic coach Bill Heaphy said.
Taconic came out in the second half and was able to bring Wahconah's lead back within single digits late in the fourth quarter with two big 3-pointers from Reilly Balcom and Abdiel Cotto, but it wasn't enough to steal the lead from Wahconah.
Wahconah was sent to the line due to Taconic foul trouble, giving it those extra points to seal the victory.
Treyvon Ringgold finished with 16 points for Taconic and Balcom had eight.
For Wahconah Cole Morrison had 16, Kevin Boino had 11, and Marco Anastasio had 10.
Wahconah (8-4) has won five straight going into Tuesday's game at Pittsfield.
Taconic (7-7) will look to get back in the win column on Tuesday at Hoosac Valley.
