NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Anna Bucaia scored 16 points Wednesday to lead the Greenfield girls basketball team to a 36-31 win over McCann Tech.

Bucaia hit three 3-pointers in the third quarter, when the Green Wave outscored the Hornets, 15-5, to take a 31-24 lead.

Amaya Todd scored 10 points to lead McCann Tech.

Hannah Boisvert scored seven points after being celebrated as the team’s lone senior on Senior Night.

“She's been huge for us,” McCann Tech coach Justin Kratz said of Boisvert recently. “I mean, I'm glad she stuck with it. It was definitely a hard season for her. But I really appreciate her leadership. I appreciate that. She got a very intense game face, but she's one of the nicest kids you'll ever meet. She's kind to our underclassmen. You know she's a couple times in the locker room at halftime and at the end of games. She said some things that needed to be said that the younger girls needed to hear.”

“She's a senior that's out on co-op. She's literally giving up money to come to practice because she gets out of work early to be at practice or to be at games. It would have been very easy for her to say, ‘Yeah, I'm good.’ But she didn't and I'm so thankful for that.”

Kratz said Boisvert “easily had over 10 blocks,” in the loss.

Greenfield took control of the game in the third quarter, when it outscored the Hornets, 15-5, to take a 31-24 lead. Kratz noted that four of McCann Tech’s five varsity players saw time in the JV game, and the Hornets were “a little gassed” coming out of the locker room.

“Overall just a huge game for the girls that really showcased how much they've improved from the beginning of the season until now,” Kratz said.

McCann Tech (2-12) goes to Southwick on Thursday to finish the regular season.
