PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Shannon Klaes Monday scored 15 points to lead the Amherst-Pelham girls basketball team to a 46-45 win over Taconic.

Jaelynn Walker scored a game-high 20 points for Taconic.

Klaes scored seven points in the fourth quarter, when the Hurricanes outscored the Thunder, 14-10, to pull out the win.

It was a drastically different game than the teams’ first meeting in Amherst on Jan. 17, a 22–point win for the ‘Canes.

“It was a hard-fought game,” Taconic coach Jason Conuel said. “I am very proud of my girls. From the start of the year to where we are now, we have improved drastically.

“The main point of emphasis has been handling the pressure, and we have done that.”

Anna Hebert scored eight points. Evaniece O’Neil and Jalissa Jessup added seven and six, respectively.

Monday marked the second time in three games Taconic lost a one-possession game.

The Thunder (3-12) is at Wahconah on Thursday.
