Walker, Rufo Lead Taconic Girls Past Wahconah

DALTON, Mass. -- Janee Walker and Ashley Rufo scored 13 points apiece Thursday to lead the Taconic High girls basketball team to a 51-45, come-from-behind victory over Wahconah.
 
Taconic (4-5) outscored the home team by a margin of 17-10 in the fourth quarter to erase a one-point deficit going into the frame. Wahconah was up by seven points, 27-20, at half-time.
 
Walker scored all 13 of her points after half-time, hitting three 3-pointers and going 2-for-2 at the foul line. Jasmine Rodriguez scored five of her seven points in the decisive fourth quarter.
 
Shalee Conyers scored eight as Taconic got points from seven different players.
 
Wahconah was led by Ashley Zink and McKenna McIlquham with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
 
Wahconah (4-5) and Taconic both are at Hoosac Valley on Saturday to face Pioneer Valley teams in the Hurricanes’ Coaches vs. Cancer event. Taconic plays Athol at 1:30; Wahconah faces Granby at 4:30.
