Tuesday's City Council meeting will be a mixed bag of routine matters, infrastructure requests, and a proposal for incentives to support a housing development.
The council took up a petition last week from Councilor at Large Earl Persip III seeking an update from Commissioner of Public Utilities Ricardo Morales on a road patch at 181 Elm St.
Work will take place on I-90 westbound at mile marker 30.0 in Blandford, with a right lane closure in place, and at mile marker 17.0 in Becket, with a shoulder closure in place.
Most of the flooding is in the middle of the road and into abutting residents' yards, sometimes reaching a depth of 6 inches near the Pease Avenue and Appletree Lane intersections to the East Branch of the Housatonic River.
The work is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 27 and expected to conclude on Thursday, March 30, with work taking place each day from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
About half would be done with Community Development Block Grants, which the town will be applying for in March. The work on Park Street and along Columbia Street is estimated at $800,000 and will be funded through state funds including Chapter 90.
