New Doctor Joins Barrington Family Medicine in Great Barrington

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Dr. John Paul Hickey has joined Barrington Family Medicine and is accepting new patients.

He joins Dr. Susan Thompson in the primary care practice located at 63 State Road in Great Barrington.

In addition to comprehensive primary care, Hickey brings expertise in HIV, Hepatitis C and addiction medicine.

Hickey is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.  He received his medical education at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, School of Medicine and his post-doctoral training at Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in New York City.  He holds a Master of Public Health degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Public Health.  


Dr. Hickey’s clinical background includes serving as medical director of The Wellness Center Clinic, Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, staff physician/HIV specialist at Callen-Lorde Community Health Center in New York, Quality Assurance administrator at The Floating Hospital in New York and attending physician at Metropolitan Hospital Center in New York.  

Hickey most recently served as associate director of HIV Medical Affairs for Gilead Sciences in Foster City, Calif., where his focus was in the area of HIV and hepatitis C research, clinical trials and pipeline products. He also served as regional director of Medical Affairs for Monogram Biosciences in San Francisco.

In addition to being licensed in both Massachusetts and New York, Dr. Hickey is an American Academy of HIV Expert.

Brien Center Announces Vice President of Human Resources

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Amy Thomson was recently named Vice President of Human Resources for the Brien Center, Berkshire County's largest behavioral health provider. 
 
In her new position, she will provide strategic direction and oversight for all aspects of the Human Resources functional areas including recruitment and retention, employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management and professional development.
 
Immediately prior to joining The Brien Center, Thomson served as the Vice President of Human Resources for the Annie Selke Companies. Other career positions include Director of Human Resources for Berkshire Healthcare Systems' Long Term Care Division, Vice President of Human Resources for Legacy Banks and Director of HR for Cranwell Resort, Spa and Golf Club. 
 
She is a resident of Pittsfield.

Thomson earned a Masters' Degree in Human Resources Management from Leslie University and a
