Warm Up the Winter: Fuel Crisis 2023 Benefit Concert

SOUTH EGREMONT, Mass.— Lauren Ambrose and Gary Happ will MC Construct's annual Warm Up the Winter benefit concert with the the Berkshire Children's Chorus, the Wanda Houston Band, Billy Keane, Hot Sauce, and Misty Blues.
 
The campaign focusses specifically on the issues Berkshire residents face during the winter months by helping homeless, low income, and middle income Berkshire residents, including professionals—cope with the after-affects of the Covid-19 pandemic. 
 
"Warm Up the Winter has become a core fundraiser for us," said Jane Ralph, Construct's Executive Director. "Winter creates serious challenges for many Berkshire households. More and more people are looking at their bills and deciding between heat, medicine, and food, choices no one should ever have to make. This campaign directly assists households facing these choices."
 
The concert is March 2 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5 pm.
 
The concert will be held in the Egremont Barn on 17 Main Street.
 
Tickets are $30. There will be food and a full bar.
 
Underwriters for the campaign include the Gilson Family Foundation, the Jewish Women's Foundation, Theory Wellness, The Schnesel Family Fund, Judi and Alan Marash, and Eric and Laura Jordahl.

State Closes Brookside Road Bridge

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.— Brookside Road bridge was closed today following a routine inspection by the MA Department of Transportation.
 
Town Public Works Superintendent Joe Aberdale said the DOT inspection report now requires further state review and that there is no information yet on a timeline for reopening. Brookside Road is located south of town and runs east to Brush Hill Road and Boardman Street.
    
Aberdale said load limits on the older, trestle bridge have been disregarded for some years by heavy vehicles. He said that usage has likely taken a toll on the span over the Housatonic River.
 
Southbound drivers heading to Brush Hill and the north end of Boardman Street will need to travel further south on Route 7 to Kellogg Road and then onto Boardman Street, heading north.
 
"We will keep residents informed as we learn more from the state DOT," said Aberdale.
