At the North Adams Public Library: Writing obituaries is an excellent exercise in learning to craft a concise narrative arc out of a vast and messy amount of information - aka an entire life. And for this workshop, you will be sifting through your own life to write your OWN obituaries. 3rd floor community room. SPACES ARE LIMITED & REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. FOUNDATIONS OF FINANCIAL LITERACY (2-PART WORKSHOP)

Great Barrington, 6 – 7:30 p.m.
This two-part workshop empowers you to build strong financial habits and take control of your money. Session One covers budgeting, spending, saving, credit, loans, investments, retirement accounts, and insurance basics. You’ll receive a month-long homework assignment to track personal spending habits to prepare for the second session.
Session Two focuses on analyzing spending habits, reducing debt, building wealth, understanding how taxes and inflation impact wealth, and setting realistic financial goals. Perfect for anyone looking to improve financial literacy and plan for a more secure future. Workshop instructor Ron Rubin has served on the board of directors for various companies and has been involved with two successful liquidity events.

READINGS AT ROCKWELL: THE JAZZ AGE NOVEL

In partnership with The Mount, the Norman Rockwell Museum presents the Jazz Age Novel, a literary program organized in conjunction with the exhibition Jazz Age Illustration.
The Jazz Age Novel will explore the work of three authors who critically examine the enormous cultural shifts that took place in America in the 1920s, including: F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Great Gatsby (1925) on the 100th anniversary of its publication; Edith Wharton’s Glimpses of the Moon (1922) chronicling the lives of American expatriates in Europe; and Nella Larsen’s Passing (1929) delving into the complexity of racial identity during the Harlem Renaissance.
Each program will begin with a short talk about the author and the featured novel followed by dramatic reading of select passages by an actor or actors.
