Stephen F. Albareda, 54

ADAMS, Mass. — Stephen F. "Yumpa" Albareda, 54, of 11 Columbia Terrace, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, while in Canaan, N.Y. Born in Adams on Sept. 22, 1958, son of Frederick and Florence Bourdon Albareda, he attended schools in Adams and graduated from Hoosac Valley High School. An Army veteran, he served from 1976 until receiving his honorable discharge in 1979. At the time of his death, Mr. Albareda was working as a facilitator for Berkshire Farm Center in Canaan. He was a communicant of the Parish of Blessed John Paul. He was an avid sports enthusiast, and especially enjoyed the New York Yankees and all the sporting events of the Hoosac Valley Hurricanes. He was the voice of Hurricane football for many years and had been the announcer and a coach for Adams Youth Football. He had also been a coach for the Adams Little League and Church League. He leaves his wife, the former Lisa A. Gelheiser, whom he married on June 21, 1985; two sons, Stephen F. Albareda Jr. and Zachary Albareda, both at home; two sisters, Linda Bailot and her husband, David, and Patricia Albareda and her companion, David Hilchey, all of Adams; a niece, Jessica Bailot of Adams; two nephews, David Bailot of Adams and Charles Gelheiser of South Glens Falls, N.Y.; his father- and mother-in-law, John and Margaret Gelheiser of Adams; his brother-in-law, John Gelheiser and his wife, Penny, of South Glens Falls, and aunts, uncles and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Alberada will be on Monday, April 15, at 9 a.m. from Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in the Parish Church of Blessed John Paul and celebrated by Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be Sunday, April 14, from 2 to 5 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Zachary Albareda Education Fund through the funeral home.
