H. Joyce Richard, 82
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — H. Joyce Richard, 82, of 77 Maple St. died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at her home.
Born in North Adams on Sept. 3, 1930, daughter of Gordon and Helen Smith Harrington, she attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School. She also attended the former Bliss Business College.
Mrs. Richard worked as a legal secretary for her husband, attorney Lionel J. Richard, in his law practice, after raising her children. She had first worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. in the offices and in production.
She was a communicant of the former Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved animals and enjoyed traveling to Hampton Beach.
She and her husband were married on June 27, 1953, in Notre Dame Church.
Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Diane Morrissey and her husband, Lawrence, and Julie Richard O'Donovan and her husband, Colm, all of North Adams; a son, Steven Mark Richard, at home; a sister, Constance Nassif of Dalton; three grandsons, Shaun Morrissey of Georgetown, and Ryan Morrissey and Brannon O'Donovan, both of North Adams; two great grandchildren, Emma Morrissey and Conor Morrissey, both of Georgetown, and nieces and nephews.
Three sons and one daughter died at birth.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Richard will be Saturday, June 8, at 10:15 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday, June 7, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home.
