Paul H. Howcroft Sr., 89

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Paul Harry Howcroft Sr., 89, of 148 Brooklyn St. died Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Williamstown Commons. Born in North Adams on Aug. 22, 1923, son of Harry and Anna LaRoche Howcroft, he attended the former Notre Dame School. An Army veteran of World War II, he in Europe. Prior to his military service, he worked at a Civilian Conservation Corps camp in Rivington, Conn. Mr. Howcroft was last employed in the Ordnance Department of the former General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for more than 30 years until his retirement. He also operated his own television repair business for many years. He was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church and was a member of the North Adams American Legion. He enjoyed building radio equipment and was a member of the Northern Berkshire Amateur Radio Club. He also enjoyed attending ham radio fests, auctions and flea markets. His wife, the former Ruth A. Lackey, died in 1994. He leaves two daughters, Elizabeth Rounds and Linda Sumner, both of North Adams; four sons, Paul H. Howcroft Jr. of Adams, Robert Howcroft and Donald Howcroft, both of North Adams, and Timothy Howcroft of Lowell; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. alt="" />FUNERAL NOTICE &mash; The funeral for Mr. Howcroft will be Thursday, June 13, at 11 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 12, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Elder Services of Berkshire County in care of the funeral home.
