Santina B. Segala, 83

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Santina B. "Sandy" Segala, 83, of 479 State St. died Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Whitingham, Vt., on May 31, 1930, daughter of Guisseppe and Maria Benigni Ceccarelli, she attended Whitingham schools and graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School in North Adams with the class of 1948, of which she was elected vice president. Mrs. Segala was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in its International Office and then by its successor, Commonwealth Sprague, until her retirement in 1996 with more than 35 years of service. She had first worked at the former A&P Supermarket. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and was a member and past president of the former Holy Family League of Charity. She was a member, past president and past secretary of the Italian Fratellanza Society of New Britain, Conn., and a member of American Legion Post 90 Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. She and her husband, Frank J. Segala, were married on Oct. 30, 1948, in the former St. Anthony of Padua Church. Besides her husband of 64 years, she leaves a daughter, Donna Marie Peters and her husband, Mark, of Pownal, Vt.; a sister, Sister Adele Ceccarelli of the Venerini Sisters in Leominster; two grandchildren, Alicia Couture and Andrew Couture, both of Pittsfield, and Adam Peters and his wife, Courtney, of Hubert, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Christian Couture of Pittsfield and Ella and Carter Peters, both of Hubert; four sisters-in-law, Angelina Downs of Texas, Mary Therrien and her husband, Ernest, of the town of Florida, and Margaret Stefanski and Jacqueline Cote and her husband, William, all of Adams; a brother-in-law, Louis Segala of Adams, and many nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE The funeral for Mrs. Segala will be Saturday, June 29, at 9:30 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, June 28, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions are suggested for North Adams Commons Activities Fund or St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in care of the funeral home.
