Milton H. Cohen, 87

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Milton H. Cohen, 87, of 264 State Road died peacefully Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at his home. Born in North Adams on April 4, 1926, a son of Harry and Rose Silverstein Cohen, he attended schools in North Adams. A decorated Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 318th Infantry Regiment. He was awarded the Purple Heart, WW II Victory Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with two service stars. Mr. Cohen was employed as a bus driver for J.T. Bus Lines and later for Dufour, retiring with 30 years of service. He was earlier employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. for 15 years. He was a member of Dr. George L. Curran VFW Post 996 and a longtime member of the Northern Berkshire YMCA. His wife, the former Dora Scrivens, whom he married Sept. 4, 1948, died June 8, 2012. He leaves a daughter, Lisa Jowett of North Adams; four sons, Harry Cohen, Henry Cohen and Joseph Cohen and his wife, Debbie, all of North Adams and Eric Cohen and his wife, Yvonne, of New Marlborough; a sister, Helen Aitken of Williamstown; two brothers, Donald Cohen of Lawton, Ok., and Jason Cohen of Chicopee; 11 grandchildren, Becky, Jennifer, Sarah, Michelle, Jessica, Elliot, Bryce, Beth, Christine, David and Tabitha, and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers Sydney, Bernard and Edward Cohen. FUNERAL NOTICE — Family and friends may attend funeral services for Mr. Cohen on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 11 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow with full military honors in Southview Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested for the Disabled American Veterans fund through the funeral home.
