Michael D. Tassone, 73
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Michael D. Tassone, 73, of 51 Parker St. died Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at the Vibra Hospital in Springfield.
Born in Westfield on Aug. 5, 1941, a son of Domenick and Carmela Cerminara Tassone, he attended the former St. Joseph's Grammar School and graduated from the former Drury High Vocational School in 1961.
Mr. Tassone was employed for many years at Parker Machine Co. and last worked part time at Period Lighting Co. in Clarksburg.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and a member of the North Adams Elks Lodge. He also was a former Little League baseball coach and a Boy Scout Leader.
He and his wife, the former Janice Nicol, were married June 2, 1962, in the former St. Anthony of Padua Church.
Besides his wife of 52 years, two sons Kevin Tassone and his wife, Rachel, and Mark Tassone and his wife, Katherine, all of North Adams; two brothers, William Sweatland of Clinton and Robert Sweatland of Leominster; three sisters, Anne Haun of Lake Wales, Fla., Mary Luschen of Clinton and Jean Lamarche of Leominster; four grandchildren, Alison, Domenick, Joshua and Troy Tassone; five stepgrandchildren Brian, Lauren, Cameron, T.J. and Trejan Skiffington; a stepgreat-grandson, Oliver Flagg, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his birth mother, Madeline Chiavaralotti Sweatland, and two brothers, John and Thomas Sweatland.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Tassone will take place Saturday, Sept. 13, at 11 from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. Burial will take place at a later date in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday, Sept. 12, from 4 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial donations are suggested for AYJ Fund or to the POPCARE Fund through the funeral home.
