Norma A. Leonesio, 97

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Norma Armalina Leonesio, 97, of 100 Hospital Ave. died Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at Williamstown Commons. Born in Readsboro, Vt., on Feb. 22, 1918, daughter of Giaochimo and Natalina Giustina Franceschetti Gnosini she attended Readsboro Central School and was a Pro Merito graduate of Drury High School with the class of 1935. She also graduated from the former Bliss Business College in 1936. Mrs. Leonesio assisted her late husband, Aldo John Leonesio, in the operation of the former Aldo's Paint and Wallpaper Store. She was first employed by the former Deerfield Specialty Papers until her marriage. During World War II, she worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. to aid the war effort and then at Cascade School Supplies until 1947. She was a communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member of its Rosary Society. She also assisted in its annual bazaar for many years. She was a member of the North Adams Lodge of the Sons of Italy and enjoyed cooking. Her husband, whom she married on Sept. 30, 1939, died on Feb. 20, 1998. She leaves a son, James V. Leonesio of Clarksburg; a daughter, Ann Leonesio Scerbo of North Adams;four grandchildren, Katie Leonesio, Emilie Weber, James V. Leonesio Jr., and Andrew Leonesio; and six great-grandchildren, Rachael Weber, Ozzie Weber, Rowan Weber, Arianna Leonesio, Shayla Von Pohlman, and Kylie Von Pohlman. FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Leonesio will be celebrated Friday, March 20, at 9 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals,Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247.
