Karen Ann Singleton, 73

POWNAL, Vt. - Karen Ann Singleton, 73, of Pownal died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center.

Born in North Adams, Mass., on Aug. 25, 1942, a daughter of the late Camille and Julia Romanos Ziter, she attended schools there, including graduating from Drury High School in 1960 and from the dental assisting program at McCann Technical School.

Mrs. Singleon was employed at Stop & Shop Pharmacy in North Adams as a pharmacist assistant. In her younger years, she had worked at the former Modern Dairy and as a dental assistant for Dr. Horn. She also was a saleswoman for the former Roberts Co. and Martin Shoe stores in North Adams and had worked at the former Green Mountain Race Track.

She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, bird watching, crossword and jigsaws puzzles. She was a very loving and caring person and enjoyed the simple things in life.

She leaves her husband, Richard J. Singleton, whom she married Dec. 30, 1988; her sister, Jacqueline Gigliotti and her husband, Alan, of Hudson, Mass.; her brother, Bruce Ziter and his wife, Jean, of North Adams; her sisters-in-law Frances Ziter of Middletown, N.Y., and Theresa LaPoint and her husband, David, of Glens Falls, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Donald Singleton of New York; two stepsons, Todd Singleton of Riverview, Fla., and Timothy Singleton and his wife, Jennifer, of Cary, N.C.; four stepgrandchildren; an uncle and aunt, Joseph and Margaret Ziter of Troy, N.Y., and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Her brother Donald Ziter died Feb. 15, 2014.

FUNERAL NOTICE - A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Singleton will be celebrated Monday, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Sunday, Oct. 18, from 4 to 6 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, Mass. Memorial donations are suggested for Scleroderma Foundation through the funeral home.http://www.flynndagnolifuneralhomes.com
