James F. Hancock, 89

ADAMS, Mass. — James Francis Hancock, 89, of Pleasant Street, formerly of North Adams, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015.
Born in North Adams on May 18, 1926, a son of Robert and Mary Doran Hancock, he attended Drury High School in North Adams.
He was a decorated Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Hancock was a self-employed tile and carpets master installer, serving both domestic and commercial customers through the area.
He was a member of the North Adams VFW Post 996 and was a former member of the Northern Berkshire Mineral Club.
He leaves his son, Keith Hancock of Indiana and Florida; a brother, David Hancock of North Adams; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and his longtime friend Dorothy Spencer and her family.
He was predeceased by his siblings Robert Hancock and Carol Edmunson.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Graveside services with military honors for Mr. Hancock will take place in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams, at a later date.
