Gail Cook, 68

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Gail Cook, 68, of North Adams died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at North Adams Commons.

Born in North Adams on Oct. 5, 1947, a daughter of Henry and Gladys Foster St. Pierre, she graduated from Drury High School with high honors and also graduated from Berkshire Community College with a degree in accounting.

Ms. Cook was first employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. until she married James Cook and moved to Colorado for a time. She returned home, driving across the country with all of her belongings, and went to work at North Adams Commons.

She was a longtime communicant of the former Holy family Church and of St. Elizabeth's Church. Her faith and love of life was a thing to be admired. She was a strong and caring person who spent her life helping and caring for others. Whether family or friends, Ms. Cook was always helping someone. Her amazing strength may have come from her loving family. Her father was a paratrooper shot down over Normandy and held as a prisoner of war. Or, maybe from her grandmother Addie Foster, who lived to be 106, and a recipient of the Golden Post Cane.

She loved music of all kinds. There was barely a tune that she couldn't sing along to. Her mother played the piano, so music and singing was a way of life. She lived life to the fullest, but always made time for others. She was a strong, intelligent, loving woman that will be greatly missed. So please play a tune for her.

She leaves her sister, Carleen Roberts of North Adams; a nephew, Wade Roberts of North Adams, many cousins and her large extended family at the North Adams Commons.

FUNERAL NOTICE — Graveside services for Ms. Cook will take in the spring in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff at North Adams Commons. Donations are suggested for Popcares or HospiceCare of the Berkshires through Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
