Jenny M. Dewkett, 90

LEE, Mass. — Jenny Marie Dewkett, 90, died Tuesday morning, April 12, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Amato, Italy, on September 5, 1925, the daughter of Joseph and Seraphina Scherbo Gagliardi. She moved to the United States as a young child and attended Lenox schools.
She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Lee, a former member of the St. Mary’s Choir, St. Mary / St. Martha Sodality and volunteered at St. Mary’s School Bingo. She enjoyed bowling, square dancing, reading, gardening and wintering in Florida but most importantly spending time with her family.
On March 8, 2016, she and her husband, William Dewkett Sr., celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, William Dewkett Jr. and his wife Gwen of Brookfield, Conn., David Dewkett and his wife Ellen of Port Orange, Fla., and Thomas Dewkett and his wife Katherine of Staatsburg, N.Y.; one sister, Rose Vecchia of Lee; three grandchildren, Matthew Dewkett and his wife Bonnie, Bryan Dewkett and Michelle Dewkett; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Dewkett is predeceased by a daughter, Jean Marie, who died as a child in 1958; two brothers, Peter and Joseph Gagliardi; and three sisters, Mary Aiello, Catherine DiGrigoli and Angela Burke.
Funeral notice: Funeral services for Jenny Dewkett will be on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at 9:15 a.m. from the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, April 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends wishing may make donations in her memory to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation or Hospice Care in the Berkshires in c/o the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St, Lee, MA 01238.
