Rene C. Cyr, 82

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Rene Claude Cyr, 82, of North Adams died Monday June 20, 2016, at Berkshire Medical Center.
He was born in Cohoes, N.Y., on January 11, 1934, son of Leon and Rose (Fectau) Cyr. He attended Drury High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed by the General Cable Co. for 40 years until his retirement.
Rene was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. He was a member of the Greylock Community Club, the North Adams Elks and the Retired Men's Club. He enjoyed bowling, cribbage and pitch and competed in several local leagues. Rene also enjoyed riding his scooter and playing golf, and he played softball in his younger years.
He was devoted to his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Diane M. (Critelli) Cyr, whom he married on November 6, 1954; two sons, Daniel C. Cyr and his wife Kimberly of North Adams and Gary R. Cyr and his wife Karen of Clarksburg; three grandchildren, Gregory, Douglas and Alyssa; four great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Carter, Sierra and Jaxon; one sister, Theresa St. Pierre of North Adams; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers and one sister, Loretta St. Pierre, Leo Cyr and Henry Cyr.
Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Rene Cyr will be celebrated Friday, June 24, 2016, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery.
