David Walker Sr., 83

LEE, Mass. — David "Ron" Walker Sr., 83, of Lee died Saturday August 6, 2016, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Worcester, Mass., on July 21, 1933, the son of the Late David and Alyce Carrigan Walker.

Ron was a proud Marine who served from 1952-1955 during the Korean War. He was proud of the motto "Semper- Fi." He was employed for 32 years at Mead Specialty Paper in South Lee and for the last 20 years for Kindred at Laurel Lake in Lee.

He was a member of the Lions Club and the VFW. He enjoyed fishing and loved the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, the Boston Celtics and watching NASCAR. Ron liked going to Michael's Restaurant on Saturday afternoons and Otto's Restaurant on Sunday mornings. He liked scratch tickets, vacations in Puerto Rico and Lake George, but most of all spending time with family.

Ron was fun-loving and some would say he was the life of the party. He had a big heart and a passion for life here on earth.

On August 13, 1955, he married the former Norma M. Smachetti; she died on November 29, 2011. He is also predeceased by his brother Wayne.

Ron is survived by one son, David R. Walker Jr. and his wife Denise of Lee; two daughters, Diane L. Carroll and her fianc Charlie of Lee and Denise L. Andre of Lee; one brother, Jerry Walker and his wife Mary, nine grandchildren, Jason, Kelly, Melissa, Will, Lauren, Christina, Jacob, Mya and Jayden; five great-grandchildren, Michael, Cameron, Mason, Christian and Brett; and his nieces and nephew, Karen, Kirk and Kim.

Funeral notice: Funeral services for Ron Walker will be on Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be Friday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Friends wishing may make donations in his memory to Soldiers On or the Lee High Grid Iron in c/o the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main Street, Lee, MA 01238.
