Francis A. Martel

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Mr. Francis A. Martel, 70, of 266 Houghton St., North Adams, died Thursday, August 5, 2016, at his home.

He was born in Westfield, Mass., on March 26, 1946, a son of the late Francis Martel and Dora (Trottier) Martel Lefebvre. He attended Adams schools and later attended Berkshire Community College.

A Vietnam veteran, Mr. Martel enlisted in the Marine Corps at age 17 and served from 1964 until 1968, when he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant.

He last worked as a foreman at Nastech Corp in Bennington, Vt. While living in Florida from 1896 until 1994, he had worked as a manager at Daytona Dash Co. in Daytona, Fla.

He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in North Adams. His faith as one of Jehovah's Witnesses kept him strong through his illness, having the hope of the Resurrection.

He is survived by his wife, the former Gloria J. Kaczowski, whom he married on February 13, 1970; two daughters, Francine Lallement and her husband Phillip of Hayesville, N.C., and Heather Adams and her husband Kenneth Adams Jr. of North Adams; a stepson, William Trumble Jr. and his wife Connie of Pitcairn, Pa.; his grandchildren, Jeremy Lallement and his wife Terakah, Amber DiGennaro and Brodie DiGennaro; his step-grandchildren, Janel Trumble, Jared Trumble, Devin Trumble, Megan Adams and Morgan Adams; a step-great-grandchild, Abigail Adams-Moyer; his brothers-in-law, Ronald Kaczowski and his wife Carmen, Donald Kaczowski, and Fred Kaczowski and his wife Bonnie; his sisters-in-law Debra Kaczowski and Annette Martel; as well as many nieces and nephews, and his many loving friends from the Congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses.

He was predeceased by his twin brother, Paul Martel; a stepson, Anthony Trumble; and his father-and mother-in-law, Adolf and Jean Kaczowski.

Funeral notice: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 10 West Shaft Road Terrace (off Mohawk Trail) North Adams. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

There are no calling hours. The Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
