John E. Zdon, 72

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — John Emile Zdon, 72, of North Adams died on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, surrounded by his family at Berkshire Medical Center.

He was born in North Adams on January 31, 1944, a son of the late Walter Zdon and Jeanne (Allard) Zdon. He attended schools in North Adams and the former St. Joseph’s High School. He was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Air Force with the 96th Supply Squadron from 1962-1964.

John was employed at the James River Paper Co and Crane and Co. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was a diehard fan of the Atlanta Braves.

John leaves his wife, Christine (Coury) Zdon whom he married on January 27, 1968. They have been married for 48 1/2 years. He also leaves his son, Jamie Zdon of Cheshire; a daughter Tammy Zdon of North Adams; grandchildren Arica Schnopps of Adams and Michael Schnopps of North Adams; two sisters, Jeanne A Geissler of North Adams and Judith Muldowney and her husband Graham of South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral notice: A graveside service for John Zdon will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Southview Cemetery with full military honors. Donations may be made to Pop Cares through the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247.
