Dr. William A. Parisien Jr., 70

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Dr. William Arthur Parisien Jr., DDS, 70, of Hadley, Mass., died Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at his home. He was a well-known and beloved dentist in Northampton for more than 30 years.

He was born in North Adams, Mass., on May16, 1946, son of the late William Arthur Parisien and Helen Angeline (Gazzaniga) Parisien. He attended local schools including the Houghton School and graduated from the Drury High School with the class of 1964. He graduated from Norwich University in 1968. After teaching at Lee High School for two years, Dr. Parisien entered Georgetown University Dental School and graduated from there in 1974.

At that time, he moved to Northampton, where he began practicing dentistry with Dr. Henry Philie. In 1978, Dr. Parisien started his own practice which he operated until his retirement in 2009.

Dr. Parisien was an active member of God is Love Church in Easthampton, where he was a member of its board. He maintained an interest in automobiles and antiques throughout his life, while working in his yard and gardening were a source of great joy for him.

Survivors include his wife, Ann (Canedy) Parisien; two sons, William Arthur Parisien III and his wife Rebecca of Harrisonburg, Va., and Adam D. Parisien of Hadley; one sister, Marcia A. Dagnoli and her husband Donato of Adams; and nieces and nephews.  

He was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers, including Mary Brenda Zauls on June 7, 2013, Joan H. Parisien on March 29, 2016, Louis W. Parisien on July 17, 1955, and David Parisien, who died in infancy.

Funeral notice: The funeral for Dr. William A. Parisien Jr. will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at  noon at God is Love Church, 285 East St. Easthampton. Burial will be at a later date in Southview Cemetery in North Adams.  

Calling hours at the church are Saturday morning from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Please omit flowers.  Memorial donations may be made to the Springfield Rescue Mission, PO Box 9045 Springfield, MA 01102-9045 or to the charity of the donor's choice in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247.
